In 2003, two friends had similar experiences on opposite sides of the country.
- One, living in Washington DC, needed auto glass. He got a new windshield with a
quick online search and a phone call – and the glass was installed at his home the
next day. After that pleasant experience, he needed new tires. He looked for the
same kind of convenient mobile service … and couldn’t find it! Instead, he spent
some unhappy hours at a local tire store, while dreaming of a best way.
- The other, in Los Angeles, needed to replace a tire and got an expensive quote from
his car dealer. His reply: “Sorry, I only need one tire, not four!” His dealer’s
service advisor then informed him the price was for a single tire. While writing
a large check, he wondered why there wasn’t a best way.
Those two guys were TireVan founders David Leslie and Pat Garvey. They compared
their experiences, and the concept of TireVan was born. As car owners and entrepreneurs,
they were sure there had to be a The Best Way to Buy New Tires. Other car owners they
spoke with echoed widespread frustration with the typical tire buying experience.
No one liked having to spend time making a tire store trip. No one liked drinking
bad coffee and reading old magazines in tire store waiting rooms. Some worried about
getting bad advice and ending up with less than the ideal tire for their needs.
Everyone felt tires could be too expensive – especially at auto dealer service shops
– and they didn’t like having to hold onto their wallet. And wherever people bought
tires, it was common to walk away having spent hundreds of dollars more for tune-ups,
brake work, or other services they were talked into but weren’t sure they needed.
Pat and Dave became convinced there was a huge opportunity if TireVan could provide
customers 3 things:
Eliminate the trip to a tire store by providing mobile installation. Make it easy
to shop, online or by phone.
Run an efficient, low-overhead business, and pass the cost savings along to customers
in the form of fair, reliable, low prices.
Offer all brands and models of tires. Give trusted, objective advice so that the
customer gets the tire that’s right for their car, their driving preferences, and
their pocketbook.
Committed to these principles, TireVan began operations in late 2004 in the Washington
DC metropolitan area. We have grown continuously by sticking to this formula. We
measure our success entirely in the eyes of our customers, and
we are proud that 98% of our customers say they are EXTREMELY or VERY SATISFIED
with TireVan*. (What tire store can say that?)
When you need new tires, give TireVan a try. Find out why our customers call us
